Motherland is an immersive 43-minute audio-visual suite offering a set of meditative, instrumental tone-poems exploring belonging and identity through interpretations of Japanese ancestry and roots. Combined with footage shot by Mark de Clive-Lowe in Kaga, Japan during Summer 2019, we start from the train ride into Kaga, and then on with our journey of soundtracked sights following evocative pathways to temples, rivers and lakes, accompanied by the sounds of nature and music. The project is offered as a reflection on heritage and healing for the spirit.
